Dear Parents and Friends of NHHS music programs.
Please see the information below regarding LAUSD plans for 50% budget cuts to the elementary music programs.  If these budget cuts take place, middle school and high school music programs will be impacted including NHHS music department..  NHHS will lose our music director, Mr. Brown, as he will be layed off by the district and NHHS will receive one of the displaced Elementary Music teachers.

As many of you know Mr. Brown is a wonderful musician and was trained by Mr. Kenion and Mr. Gehringer since winter/spring of 2009.  Prior to that, he interned with the music teachers at Walter Reed Middle school where he successfully worked with many of our current music students.   Because of his knowledge,  education, and experience with our students, his arrival at NHHS this fall was a seamless transition for our many music programs including  AP Music theory, jazz band, marching band, orchestra and dance teams.

Please support the arts and music programs and help us keep Mr. Brown by clicking on the link below to sign the petition. *Petition to Maintain the Integrity of  LAUSD's Arts Instructional Programs*

Please  help the School Board and our other representatives understand  how
indispensable Dance, Music, Visual Arts and Theater are to a fully  rounded
education, and to the future of our State.

The current  budget for LAUSD calls for 50% cuts to the teaching staff of
the
Elementary  program for 2010-2011, and elimination in 2011-2012. Let us join
together  to stop this from happening. *
