NHHS Friends and Families, We just received notice of the plan for the following recommendation to be presented today to LAUSD Board. If the recommendation is approved, Mr Brown, our orchestra, band, jazz band and Music Theory teacher will be one of the staff members receiving a pink slip at the end of the year. Please read below and IMMEDIATELY contact our LAUSD Board . It is our understanding that the Board is meeting and plans on voting on this issue today.

Hi All,
Just found out that LAUSD Human Resources will recommend to the Board at tomorrow’s meeting that
1. Non-permanent Single-Subject Visual Arts Teachers
2. Non-permanent Single-Subject credentialed Music teachers
3. Non-permanent Multi-subject credentialed teachers
Will receive RIF (Reduction-In-Force—i.e. Pink slips) notices.
This means probationary visual arts teachers and music teachers in elementary, middle and high schools will be put on notice and most likely released at the end of the school year.
This will go hand-in-hand with the elimination of the 50% elementary arts teacher positions.
The RIF recommendation will be presented to the Board and voted on by the Board TODAY (Tuesday, March 2) meeting.
.
See if they can attend the Board meeting TODAYas well.
Action has to take place now.
I just contacted Arts For LA and they are moving forward as well.
If you know secondary arts teachers, contact them immediately. They will have professional relationships with parents and can actively address this issue.
The time to act is now...
