Message to incoming students/parents

Reality Check: the Zoo Magnet is a RIGOROUS college preparatory program with challenging courses and graduation requirements. This is not a petting zoo. All students must complete the University of California A-G coursework in order to graduate. LOOK THEM UP they are demanding. ALL 9th graders take English, Algebra or Math Analysis, Biology and foreign language (Spanish). ALL 10th graders take Algebra 2 (at minimum) and Chemistry. Students who have not MASTERED Algebra will not pass Chemistry let alone Genetics and Vertebrate Physiology. Those students who fail either Algebra, Biology or Chemistry will exit the program. ALL of our elective courses are either college level science or AP classes, they demand SERIOUS study and commitment in time and effort. There are rewards for students who rise to the challenge; more than half of this year's 64 seniors have earned acceptance to the University of California, nine to UC Berkeley alone. No one gets lost in the crowd, but neither do they float underneath the academic radar. Come, thrive, study hard and you will enjoy your high school years and reap the life-long benefits.
